Position Details
Description: 
To spend time providing a recreational outing with a child or youth to help expose them to low cost, community recreational activities on a weekly basis for six months. Goal of postion is to engage a child in a positive and healthy activity. 1. Having an understanding of community recreational activities available. 2. Ability to plan age appropriate activities and awareness of low cost community recreational activities and events. 3. Empathetic and able to relate well to people from a variety of backgrounds. 4. Reliable. 5. Flexible to child/family needs. Requires criminal records check; Requires child welfare record check • Basic volunteer orientation • Opportunities to participate in ongoing volunteer development and educational sessions • Volunteer Manual • Periodic Optional Training at agency • Access to staff library/resources This position provides an opportunity to engange a child/youth in recreational and leisure pursuits they may carry throughout their lives. Can be a pleasant and rewarding relationship with a child. Mileage and expenses are reimbursed within a set amount. increased experience within child welfare setting.
