Description: 
North York Women’s Shelter is an emergency shelter for abused women and children. For over 25 years, we have helped save thousands of lives. We are currently seeking volunteers to assist our Children's Services department. We need your help and assistance with: • Supervision of children in the Kidz Clubhouse • Programming activities for children • Supervision of children during scheduled day trips • Maintenance of toy supplies (includes sanitization, replenishing of supplies and removal of unsafe/overused toys) • Sorting donations and assist in preparation of welcome packages for resident children • Other tasks as needed We are looking for energetic volunteers who have: • Experience working with children • Good communication and interpersonal skills • Patience • Ability to work with children of diverse ages and abilities • An understanding of the issue of violence against women • Ability to work independently and as part of a team By volunteering a few hours a week, you could help a family take the first step in building a new life.
